Michael Glynn Memorial Coalition
The Michael Glynn Memorial (MGM) Coalition was organized after Michael's death following an alcohol-related car crash the morning after his high school graduation, in May 2006.
The mission of the MGM Coalition is to promote and provide high school students and underage adults with the opportunities to become or stay alcohol and drug free through educational programs, alcohol and drug-free programs, support and sponsor of alcohol and drug-free activities, and scholarship funds to local high school students.
Action for the Betterment of the Community (ABC)
Action for the Betterment of the Community is a group of citizens from the greater Sturgis area who have united to identify community strengths and resources, to promote community cohesion, healthy lifestyles, and positive experiences for people of all ages. ABC is committed to raising awareness on issues relating to alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse, and violence. We strive to mobilize resources to address these social problems through the provision of education, activities, and training.
Watertown Healthy Youth (WHY)
The Watertown Healthy Youth (WHY) coalition is a group of community members who identify community risk and protective factors that influence our youths' decision making and choices; as well as educating on those social issues relating to alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse, and mental wellness. WHY focuses on providing resources to mobilize community partners so they can engage in prevention efforts that will make Watertown healthier and safer for our youth and families.
Aliive Roberts County
Aliive-Roberts County works with individuals, families and communities to support youth in positive decision making for the road ahead. Aliive-Roberts County works within the systems that exist in order to create community conditions that support positive decision making by youth.
Carroll Institute
Founded in 1971, Carroll Institute has been one of the states most effective substance abuse prevention and treatment facilities. We have reached thousands in local and regional schools with an individually focused prevention message and have helped additional thousands overcome and begin the healing process from the devastation of chemical addiction. Carroll Institute was the first agency in the Sioux Empire offering prevention services and presently serve 13 school districts with Project Awareness and Project Success.
Spink County Coalition
The Spink County Coalition operates under a Partnership Grant through the Department of Social Services. With these monies several programs are funded:
PROJECT SUCCESS: Project SUCCESS is designed to prevent and reduce substance use and abuse among adolescents and high school students.
COALITION CAPACITY: The Coalition seeks new partners to be representative of Spink County including parents, youth, business owners, law enforcement, school personnel, and the faith community.
